ESG Analyst

Castle Hall is an entrepreneurial, dynamic and fast moving company that is looking to add an ESG Analyst to our team. This role responds to rapidly increasing demand for Castle Hall’s services in the ESG arena, and the firm’s commitment to continued growth.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Review and analysis of key asset manager, strategy and fund documents (e.g. ESG policies, investment recommendation documents, track record of corporate engagement, and manager reporting to investors on E, S and G results)
  • Send ESG questionnaires to asset managers and interpret results
  • Conduct ESG due diligence interviews with global asset managers (conference call and onsite)
  • Document findings in detailed due diligence reports, including written narrative and identification of risk factors using Castle Hall’s online risk management application
  • Provide feedback to asset managers with respect to best practices and areas of potential enhancement across ESG activities
  • Identification and documentation of ongoing changes at the fund and management company
  • Communication with clients to relay due diligence findings and proactively support our clients’ investment decision making process
  • Attend webinars and / or ESG conferences, as required
  • Other ad hoc projects as requested

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Candidates will relish the intellectual challenge of analyzing complex organizations and sophisticated investment strategies.  Candidates will be intellectually curious, professionally skeptical, and anxious to identify “greenwashing” in the asset management industry. Other requirements are:

  • Bachelors degree in finance, commerce, business, environmental science or a related discipline
  • 1-2 years working experience in ESG research, financial services, or a related discipline would be considered a strong asset
  • A developed interest in sustainability issues within the financial industry
  • Effective interpersonal skills to interact with highly experienced professionals within global asset management companies
  • Confidence and maturity to relay due diligence findings to our global client base and become a trusted advisor to global asset allocators
  • Exceptional attention to detail, combined with excellent English written and verbal communication skills. Accuracy of grammar and effectiveness of writing is key as Castle Hall delivers written research reports to our clients
  • Ability to conduct virtual due diligence meetings with global asset managers
  • Motivation and ambition to succeed within a dynamic industry are critical
