HR Manager

We are currently looking to fill a full-time Human Resource position in our Halifax location, which will assume HR oversight over our global network of offices. As a fast paced, ever changing organization, Castle Hall seeks a confident, experienced HR professional to handle the day to day HR needs of our current firm, and look forward to create the HR framework for a significantly larger organization.  As with many HR roles, the ability to work in a dynamic environment with utmost confidentiality is critical.


  • Manage the full recruitment cycle including screening and interviewing across both Halifax and Montreal
  • Liaise with Castle Hall’s BPO partner in Manila to co-ordinate recruitment and onboarding of Manila professionals
  • Manage the on-boarding process for new employees (Halifax, Montreal, and oversight of international locations)
  • Provide support and coaching to employees and managers on HR issues including performance management, compensation, HR Policies and training programs
  • Work closely with our planning committee to plan HR needs based on workload and overall capacity as we grow the business
  • Oversee the HR Policy Manual, taking account of the legal requirements of different jurisdictions
  • Enforce and Review timesheet compliance
  • Oversee attendance records and vacation tracking
  • Administer the Performance Review program annually
  • Coordinate the salary review process
  • Interface with employees and be part of the social committee to maintain a healthy atmosphere and positive culture
  • Contribute to executive management decisions to evolve, enrich and update the culture of a high performance, multi national organization serving demanding clients worldwide
  • Aide in managing the training and development programs and materials
  • Maintain knowledge of HR requirements in Nova Scotia and Québec and ensure compliance
  • Handle day to day HR issues (focus on Halifax and Québec)
  • Manage employee’s departure and termination process
  • Manage the oversight of WealthSimple Program (VRSP)
  • Involvement in coordinating outsourced employees
  • Other ad-hoc HR related special projects as required


  • 7+ years progressive HR Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or College diploma in HR, or Commerce / Business Administration with concentration in HR or equivalent work experience.
  • Broad knowledge of employment / labor laws and compensation structures. Prior experience of laws in Québec is a distinct advantage, although French proficiency is not required.
  • Ability to develop solutions to complex problems
  • Proficiency with full MS Office suite including Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Technologically inclined
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • CPHR Designation considered an asset
